The Canary Island's, a stone's throw from northwest Africa, are a popular holiday destination for sun-seeking Europeans. San Agustin is a small town and vacation resort on the south coast of Gran Canaria Island. San Agustin is close to the soft desert-like sand dunes of Maspalomas.

San Agustin is the original beach resort on Gran Canaria's favoured south coast. It contains chic hotels and has an attractive esplanade running behind its sheltered sandy beaches. The beaches offer safe swimming and various other water sports activities.

Book a hire car and travel to the south of the island to resorts like Patalavaca, Maspalomas, Playa del Ingles, and Puerto Rico. On the western side of Port Mogan are a number of retail outlets, a small pretty fishing port and beautiful gourmet restaurants.

Along the top end of San Agustin is the GC 1 motorway which will take you to lovely Puerto Rico, but if you travel to the east along this route you will reach the town of Las Palmas, with stunning white sandy beaches, popular with wind surfers and SCUBA Diviers. There are so many different shops for tourists to enjoy, buy some souvenirs or blow up beds for the children, there's loads to choose from. This place has great nightlife and an array of restaurants. Why not enjoy a scenic tour of the historical museums and churches whilst in Las Palmas.

A cost-effective travel choice for reaching inland destinations such as the stately Roque Nublo monolith, Palmitos Park and Aguimes is offered by pre-booking car hire. To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
