Paris Austerlitz Station Guide

Guide

Paris is the commercial, cultural and fashion hub of France. The nation's capital is spread around a loop of the River Seine in  northern France. Paris has myriad tourist draws. It is full of museums, wonderful architecture, fine dining establishments and shops. Car rental at Paris Gare D'Austerlitz is the best choice for transport, and always popular wit those wishing to explore the countryside surrounding Paris.

Explore Paris

The Gare d'Austerlitz, one of the six core Paris railway terminuses, is on the Seine's Left Bank in the south-east quarter of the city. The station is off the Quai d'Austerlitz, next to the Jardin des Plantes, in the 13th arrondissement. Gare d'Austerlitz has train services from Toulouse, Barcelona and Madrid.

Gare d'Austerlitz can be accessed by the Metro Station of the same name. The station offers a full range of passenger facilities including a brasserie and car rental services from several leading companies.

Driving south for four kilometres on the Quai d'Austerlitz, from the station, leads to the Boulevard Peripherique, which circles Paris and connects to the motorways that run across the country and beyond.

Fontainebleau and Versailles royal palaces, Bois de Vincennes, Compiegne Forest, Amiens Cathedral and the Somme's WW1 cemeteries and memorials are all fabulous attractions that must not be missed.

Transport

Car hire is always the most independent form of transport providing tourists with the freedom to travel around Paris and it's surrounding landscapes at their own leisurely pace. However the majority of attractions throughout Paris can be viewed on foot or by hopping on and off the city's many trams and buses. For a short journey Taxi's are the easiest option although if used regularly can become expensive.

Day zone tickets can be purchased to help tourists reduce their travel costs, especially if they plan on using public services regularly. Look after your tickets, once lost they can not be replaced, instead you will have to buy one again.

Charles de Gaulle International Airport (north) and Paris-Orly Airport (south) both offer car hire and public services to get travellers to and from the airport and city center. Car rental desks at the airports can get very busy, so don't book car hire on arrival, instead, book in advance online.
