Binghamton Regional Airport Guide

Guide

The Binghamton Airport is located in Maine, New York. It is a medium sized airport that serves the southern tier of New York. Originally, the airport was named the Broome County Airport, but was later changed in the 1980s and finally to its current name in the 2003. The name of the field still honours Edwin A. Link, the inventor of the aircraft instrument simulator.

The airport was opened in 1951 to help ease traffic through other regional airports. It accommodated larger planes and had the ability to have night time flights take off and land.

Maine is a small town in Broome County, New York. The population is less than 5,500 people. It lies on the western border of the county. It is a few miles northwest of Binghamton, which is located in Broome County at the crossroads of interstates 81 and 88. It has a population of nearly 50,000 people and is referred to as the Parlour City, located between two rivers, the Susquehanna and the Chenango.

Last year, Binghamton was honoured by being named the ninth greenest city in the United States. The honour came from 'Country Home magazine'. Binghamton University is also loacted near to the airport and is a great influence on academic, arts, and athletics in the city. The region is also known as the birthplace of the companies IBM and Dick's Sporting Goods.
