Nassau Airport Guide

Guide

Nassau International Airport, also referred to as Lynden Pindling International Airport, is located on New Providence Island in the Bahamas. It is located just 16kms from the capital city and receives the majority of North American flights including daily incoming flights from Florida as well as flights from Philadelphia and New York several times a week. Air Canada offers direct services to Nassau Airport once a week from both Montreal and Toronto. European airlines do not fly into Nassau’s airport directly, therefore European travellers must change flights in Miami.

Airport Facilities

There are two terminal buildings: A (domestic, charter flights and non-US international) and B (domestic and US international). Terminal B has most of the airport’s passenger facilities. In Terminal A lobby, you'll find a post office and a full-service branch of the Royal Bank of Canada. Both terminals also feature ATMs and phone card machines. An airport information desk is located in each terminal building.

The airport has cafes in the departure area of each terminal and in the domestic terminal lobby, and there are also fastfood outlets. Plenty of bars are spread around both terminals, offering local rum cocktails and other more usual refreshments.

In Terminal A, there are shops selling small musical instruments, all manner of CDs, dresses, tee-shirts, caps, and a variety of Bahamian souvenirs such as straw hats and bags, dolls and brightly coloured clothing. The newsstand also carries magnets, mugs, beach bags, place mats and other souvenir items. In Terminal B, there is a duty-free liquor store, a perfume shop, and two souvenir shops selling tins of rum cake, straw hats, dolls and a variety of other items.

Disabled facilities, inlcuding fitted toilets, lifts and ramps can be found throughout the airport, as well as designated parking areas. If extra assistance is needed then passengers must contact the airline they have booked with prior to purchasing the ticket.

The airport also offers short and long-term parking which can be found directly outside of the main terminal building. There is a pick-up and drop-off area right outside the terminal entrance, and assistance is available for the mobility impaired.

Transport

Nassau Airport is easily accessed by a well signposted road that runs from the city of Nassau. There are no regular bus services, but taxis are available from outside the terminal buildings and run to central Nassau and other nearby locations.

Prebook car hire at Nassau Airport before travelling, for cheaper prices and a greater selection of cars to choose from. Optional extras, including child's booster seats and car seats are also on offer, as well as GPS to make driving abroad that little bit easier, and safer for tourists.
