Zaragoza Airport Guide

Car Hire

Zaragoza Airport is a small commercial facility sitting just 10 miles to the west of the city of Zaragoza. It is a public airport that once began as an air force base for the US during the Cold War. The route between the airport and the city of Zaragoza is best traversed via car rental at Zaragoza Airport. However, buses and taxis provide access to the centre of Zaragoza too.

Who to Book With
There are two reliable car hire companies operating at Zaragoza Airport. Hertz is the most internationally renowned car supplier at the facility. However, National Atesa is also a reliable supplier. Desks are located in the Arrivals hall of the terminal.

Need to Know Essentials
Prior to renting a vehicle at Zaragoza Airport, tourists will be required to show several different documents:

- An international driver’s licence
- Credit card used for making the rental bookings
- A confirmation sheet detailing booking information
- A passport for identification purposes

For more info read our FAQ's.

Driving
The city of Zaragoza isn’t overly large, but it does have a decent number of convenient roadways. Traffic can be favourable on most days of the week, although congestion can rear its ugly head on the weekends. One of the difficulties with driving in the city is parking. Free parking is very limited, as metered parking bays line most of the streets. Underground parking sites are becoming more popular, and usually have available spaces.

Visit our guide on Spain for more information about driving here.

Transport

Transportation from Zaragoza Airport comes in several forms. Car rental at the airport is a popular option for travellers. In addition, buses make regular trips between the centre of the city and the airport terminal. Taxis are another recommended transport choice for passengers, as the short distance to the city doesn’t incur large tariffs.

Trains
Trains do not run to and from the airport. The closest train station is located on the edge of Zaragoza, and is known as Zaragoza-Delicias Station. It is only three miles to the east of the airport.

Taxis
Several taxi companies provide services from the terminal, including Radio Taxi Aragon, Radio Taxi Cooperativa, and Radio Taxi Zaragoza. Prices vary according to the day, time, and distance passengers need to travel.

Taxi prices:
Zaragoza Airport to downtown Zaragoza is about £15

Buses
The Urban Transport Company of Zaragoza (TUZSA) operates bus routes between the airport and the centre of the city. The final destination from the airport is Paseo Maria Agustin, yet buses stop at several destinations prior to this, including Plaza Imperial and Zaragoza Goya. A bus ticket to or from the airport costs around £1.

Facilities

Terminals
Zaragoza Airport has only the one terminal. It isn’t an overly large venue, but does cater for more than half a million passengers each year. The terminal consists of a Departure Hall with 14 check-in desks, six boarding gates, and an Arrivals Hall that caters for both domestic and international flights.

Parking
There are two public car parks found on the airport’s premises. P1 public car park is closer to the terminal than P2, although both parking sites are within a few minutes’ walk from the terminal building. Rates are calculated on a per-minute basis, so a 24-hour stint at the car parks will set motorists back about £7. This daily maximum does decrease to around £5 after the fifth day.

Wi-Fi
Wireless internet is available throughout the terminal. However, a small fee is required to access the service.

Information Services
Airport information services can be found at the Departures hall.

A reduced mobility online form can be completed, or passengers can call the assistance number 24 hours. Wheelchair services are available, and access is assisted by ramps and electronic elevators. Support services meeting points are located in the terminal too.

Restaurants and Bars
There are three dining establishments in the terminal. Cafeteria Restaurante is a self-service eatery located in the public and passenger zones. A range of local favourites, plus international dishes, are on display at this venue. For dessert, head to Helados Jijonenca, which is an ice-cream store situated on the lower level of the building. A play area for the kids sits right next door to this delightful venue.

VIP Lounges
There are no VIP lounges operating at the airport.

Money and ATMs
There is an ATM at the terminal. It is operated by the Euro 6000 Bank, which is found in the public Departures Hall of the terminal, close to the check-in counters.

Shopping in the terminal is done at Quint, which is a multi-purpose shopping facility that boasts a range of goods for passengers. Everything from sunglasses, to food, to toys and even glassware can be purchased here. It is located in both the public and secure zones of the terminal. Opening hours are between 8:30 and 21:00 daily.
