Transistmica Guide
The Transistmica Highway is one of Panama City's most important roads. It provides access to some of the country's most important areas from the capital. Before setting off to explore Panama's most beautiful, rugged terrain, car hire is strongly recommended as it will allow your party to travel independently in comfort. The two lane thoroughfare is best known as the Panama-Colon Road and provides fast access to the province of Colon. The province is bordered by the rugged Pacific coastline as well as the pristine sands of the Atlantic coast. While the Pacific has a rugged appeal and has many bird watching opportunities, the Atlantic coast is ideal for sunbathing and water pursuits, including snorkelling.
As a duty-free port, shopping in Panama is second to none. The Transistmica Highway takes in a number of shopping centres which include supermarkets and specialised stores. Many are open seven days a week from 9:00am to 8:00pm.
