Klaipeda Guide

Founded in 1252 by a group of crusaders called the Teutonic Knights, Klaipeda is the oldest city in Lithuania and is considered a port city, located where the mouth of the Curonian Lagoon flows into the Baltic Sea. This location lends itself to be a bustling transportation hub in the form of a multi-purposeful and ice-free deep water port. So bustling, in fact, that the Port of Klaipeda transported 22 million tons of cargo in a single year.

The city capitalizes on this superb water access in a variety of other ways, including its proudest attraction, the Klaipeda Aquarium, which is built on the site of an old fort and is completely surrounded by water. Equally appealing to visitors is the variety of fascinating architecture resulting from a long history of Germanic and Prussian occupation. Most of these attractions are the historical buildings that lay in the city's centre, but other venues in the port region offer glimpses into the history of this ancient city, including the Lithuanian Minor History Museum and the massive Bell Tower, which enables visitors to gaze both at the magnificent construction as well as the original stained-glass artwork. The bell tower and other attractions can be reached throughout the city with the use of a car hire.

In addition to its historical value, Klaipeda has modernized a great deal as well and visitors may now find shopping centers, theatres, and abundant transportation in Lithuanias oldest city. Many will eventually find themselves on the historic Manto gatve, the busiest street in town, enjoying the pleasantry of Lithuania's pride: nicknamed Uostamiestis or Port City.

Yes, we offer a guarantee of the lowest price - because we compare various retailers, we can always offer you the best price in town.

What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

Are there any additional costs?

What is a worry-free label?

Your vehicle will be provided and must be returned with a full tank of fuel. With a vehicle from our Worry-Free selection, you can travel with peace of mind and no hidden costs.

How can I change or cancel my reservation?

You can cancel your reservation through "My Account". We recommend contacting us by phone if your changes to your booking or cancellation takes place at short notice (48 hours or less).
