Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg Airport, now called Euro Airport, is located within close proximity to the three neighbouring countries of Switzerland, Germany and France. It sits on French territory in the commune of Saint-Louis, and is operated by both France and Switzerland. Despite being a small structure, the airport handles over five million passengers per year.

Airport Facilities

The airport is split in half with one side serving French air traffic, and the other, Swiss traffic. Nearly 30 airlines provide scheduled flights to a wide range of destinations across Europe and a smaller number of destinations in North America. EasyJet is one of the main operators offering scheduled services to nearly 20 destinations, including two of London's airports, Barcelona in Spain, Hamburg in Germany and Lisbon in Portugal.

Both the French and Swiss sides have their own restaurants and a number of cafes and bars. The airport's information desk will be able to provide you with details on flights, as well as information on what there is to do and see in the local area. Both the Swiss and French sides have their own car parks with ample parking space to facilitate all passengers wishing to leave their cars for both long and short-term periods.

Transport

The roads out of the airport are well signposted and in excellent condition, meaning that car hire is one of the most popular options for travel to surrounding areas. Avis, Europcar, Hertz_National Citer and Sixt operate from desks in the arrivals hall of terminal 1, the same suppliers operate from terminal 2 except National Citer.

Taxis are usually available for hire throughout the day, but this is a less convenient option for those with luggage, or would like to see the sights out of the city center of Basel.

Buses operate to and from  the airport and Basel and are considered one of the cheapest short term options for travel, but limits you to Basel and other neighbouring towns and cities.
