Located in the Tarentaise Valley lying between the towering Mont Blanc and Mont Pourri, the charming mountain village of Bourg St Maurice maintains its authenticity amidst the numerous surrounding commercial ski resorts. Traditional atmosphere coupled with some of the best and most easily accessible slopes in this renowned area makes Bourg St Maurice an extremely popular tourist destination.

Winter sporting activities are the area’s main drawcards and include downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing. From the town, a funicular railway climbs 800 meters in 7 minutes to leave you at Arc Pierre Blanche and the start of the Cachette chairlift at 1600 meters. You can go for trips through valleys bathed in warm sunshine to explore the tranquil scenery and visit other old villages such as La Thuile de Vulmix. It is even possible to cross over into Italy!

The warmer months offer fantastic opportunities for walking, hiking, mountaineering and scenic driving, with Bourg St Maurice being a perfect base due to its low elevation and therefore longer snow-free season.

The town itself features quaint narrow streets and lanes, picturesque farmhouses and historic Baroque architecture, in particular the atmospheric old church.
