The commune of Bourg St Maurice, commonly known as Bourg, is situated in the Savoy department in southeast France. It is the last big town in the Tarentaise Valley and is part of the world renowned Paradiski ski region in the middle of the French Alps.

The town of Bourg St Maurice is at too low an altitude for skiing, but it is a great starting point to explore the area. The Arc en Ciel funicular railway departs from Bourg St Maurice Rail Station every 20 minutes and takes about seven minutes to reach Arc 1600.

During the ski season, Eurostar Direct Ski Trains and the Rail Europe Snow Train terminate at Bourg, while there are also Thalys trains coming from Brussels and London and sleeper trains arriving from elsewhere in France. The town also lies at the junction of several passes over the mountains for car travel, such as the Little St Bernhard Pass leading to Italy, but these passes can only be used in the summer.

Eurostar presents a direct weekly service to Bourg departing from both London Waterloo and Ashford international stations between November and April. Eurostar ski trains leave on Friday evenings and on Saturday mornings and reach Bourg eight hours later. The Snow Train runs from both London St Pancras Station and Ebbsfleet Station in Kent, stopping at six French stations that include Bourg St Maurice.
