Going back into the history of Edmonton and Calgary you will find the interesting Edmonton North - Calgary Trail. This is a section of road that was named in honor of the trail that was formed in about 1873 to transport fur from one city to the other. The fur trade during this time was the main economy in the region and very important to both the Fort of Edmonton and the Fort of Calgary.
