Arizona Guide

Guide

Arizona is home to stunning natural wonders and vibrant cities. Situated in the southwest desert of the USA, it contains many destinations popular with tourists from around the world.

The incredible Grand Canyon is Arizona’s chief drawcard. The canyon is situated in the northern parts of the state. It stretches along the Colorado River for hundreds of miles. Erosion is a key feature here, and the best example of this in the entire world.

The major cities of Arizona are: Phoenix, the capital; Tucson; Flagstaff; and Sedona. Phoenix is a modern city with all the amenities you expect. A mix of Spanish, Indian, and modern culture make Tucson a fascinating destination. Flagstaff, the gateway to the Grand Canyon, is a vibrant cosmopolitan city. Sedona, on the other hand, is situated in one of the most beautiful natural desert areas in the world.

While all of the major cities of Arizona provide good bars, restaurants, and hotels, Flagstaff is particularly well known for its food, as is Tucson for its spicy southwestern cuisine. If one loves natural beauty, the state is full of it. In addition to the Grand Canyon there are numerous state and national parks to visit for hiking and horseback riding.

If you desire to see as much of the state as possible, driving is the easiest way to get around. All of the major cities, as well as the parks are connected by highway.

Phoenix is the easiest place to begin a tour of Arizona. Its International Sky Harbor Airport is the largest in the Southwest and offers direct flights to and from most major American cities and others around the world, as well as connecting to many cities in Arizona itself. Amtrak also serves Phoenix and has lines running all over the US.
