Alaska Guide

Guide

Alaska is the most northerly located state in the USA and is known for its vast untouched, stunningly beautiful landscapes. The region has a considerably low population making it popular with the more adventourous tourists. It's covered with forests, lakes, mountains and tundra, and it is a popular tourist destination for people from around the world.

Alaska’s largest city, Anchorage, and its capital Juneau, offer a range of cultural destinations. Anchorage’s Museum of History and Art has a collection featuring artists from around the world, and its Native Museum contains historical artifacts and information on Alaska’s native peoples. Juneau, the capital, contains the St. Nicolas Russian Orthodox Church, a stunning reminder of Alaska’s pre-American Russian history.

There are almost infinite opportunities for outdoor adventure in Alaska. Main attractions include Mount McKinley and the Glacier Bay National Park where there are opportunities for many outdoor activities, the most popular being hiking and skiing. If you like relaxing then fishing might be more appealing.  Around Alaska there is much opportunity for camping, but if you are looking for good restaurants, bars and hotels, Anchorage and Juneau are your best bets.

You need a car to get almost anywhere in Alaska, and only small aircraft can reach some places. Pilots and planes can be hired in most cities.

Flights can be gotten to Anchorage and Juneau from many cities in the United States and Canada.
