Burlington Airport is located less than four miles from the centre of Burlington, Vermont, and is a civil-military hub. Visitors wishing to explore Vermont or neighbouring states such as New Hampshire, or even venture north to Quebec, Canada, and the province's largest city of Montreal, often arrange car hire in Burlington Airport. However, alternative means of transport are available.

Who to Book With
Desks for all eight of the airport’s car rental companies can be found inside the main terminal, opposite the baggage carousels. Rental vehicles are only a short walk from the counters of the car hire firms via a covered skywalk. Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Dollar, Hertz, National and Thrifty all have a presence here.

Need to Know Essentials
You will need to show the following documents at vehicle collection:

- UK driver’s licence (both parts)
- Credit card used to make the reservation
- Valid passport for confirmation of ID
- Print-out of confirmation of booking

Driving
The US is a huge country but its states and their major destinations are connected via a series of well-built interstates. Some highways require a toll, especially those between the US and Canada. While parking spaces are expensive and hard to find in large cities, those driving in small towns won't encounter any parking problems. When driving inland or around rural areas, forward planning is advised as petrol stations are less common outside of the main urban areas.

See our guide to the US for more information on driving here.

Transport

Burlington Airport is connected to Burlington by Main Street, which runs to the town centre, while drivers travelling from elsewhere around Vermont often use Interstate 89 to reach the air hub. Other passengers usually rely on coaches or taxis to get them to and from the airport.

What do I need to do when picking up a car? To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Should you object, you can always cancel your reservation with no obligations attached (at least 48 hours in advance). What kind of insurance is applicable to my car rental? In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car. What is a worry-free label? This label indicates that a rental car satisfies the following requirements: Unlimited kilometers, no excess liability (and no excess cover available), sustainable energy policy, and that the car rental company has a good reputation. Availability of cars satisfying these four requirements will speed up the selection of a suitable vehicle for you. How can I change or cancel my reservation? You can cancel your reservation through "My Account". We recommend contacting us by phone if your changes to your booking or cancellation takes place at short notice (48 hours or less).
