Macclesfield Guide

Guide

The small market town of Macclesfield is located in the eastern region of the county of Cheshire, in the northwest of England. It lies on the banks of the River Bolin, which runs into the River Mersey. Neighbouring counties include Derbyshire, to the east, Staffordshire, to the south, and Greater Manchester, to the north.

The town itself is small and relatively quiet, with its location so close to other major cities that you are never far away from a bit more excitement. With car rental at Macclesfield you can make the 30km drive north along the A523 to Manchester, famous around the world for its successful football team and where you will find a bustling nightlife and a cosmopolitan feel, with a great number of students keeping the city youthful and dynamic.

With a hire car you can also head west to the world famous city of Liverpool and the coast. Liverpool is just over 20kms to the west, making it an easy drive away, and with its location on the coast, not only does it have a lot to offer in itself but is near many other coastal locations, such as Southport, to the north, and Blackpool, under 20kms further north.

If you are looking to explore the more rural side of Britain then you should consider venturing over the border to north Wales, where you will find rolling valleys and beautiful scenery as well as a rugged coastline. Colwyn Bay is just over 100kms to the west and Holyhead is right on the tip, just a further 50kms to the west and easily accessible by car. So make the most out of your trip and book cheap car hire with us today.
