Las Mercedes Guide

The small village of Las Mercedes lies about 10kms northwest of the Fuerteventura capital, Puerto del Rosario. It is a popular little hamlet in the country for those with car hire in Las Mercedes.

With cheap car hire in Las Mercedes you can check out all the beaches along the east coast of Fuerteventura, as well as the busy capital and the laid-back north. Las Mercedes is only around 15kms or 20kms from Fuerteventura Airport and can be accessed by taxi or shuttle bus.

Puerto del Rosario is the busiest town on the island and there are plenty of attractions to check out, along with good shopping, eating and nightlife.

The northern beach town of Corralejo is well within reach of Puerto del Rosario with car rental in Las Mercedes and is well known for its fine beaches and quality hotels. You can do a loop to Corralejo, going inland via the town of La Oliva along the FV-101 and coming back along the coastal FV-1. This is a nice drive.

Along with the beaches up this way with car hire in Las Mercedes is Sand Dune National Park - a stunning sight of Africa-like barrenness backed by mountains. It is just south of Corralejo.

Getting to Fuerteventura and Las Mercedes can be achieved by flying to Fuerteventura Airport from cities all over Europe, or by taking a ferry from Lanzarote or Gran Canaria. Ferries land at Puerto del Rosario, from where taxis go inland to pick up cheap car hire in Las Mercedes.

 What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

 Are there any additional costs?

In general, our rates are all-inclusive. Should there be any additional costs, our booking department will get in touch with you before issuing the invoice. Should you object, you can always cancel your reservation with no obligations attached (at least 48 hours in advance).

What kind of insurance is applicable to my car rental?

In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car.

 What is a worry-free label?
