Agaete Guide

With so much for you to see and do in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, hiring a car will really maximise your time in this great location.

For the museum goer there's a veritable feast of attractions. The Perez Galdos House Museum is located in the Triana district of town. It is a dedication to the novelist of the same name, with documentaries to watch and various journals and personal items to peruse.

The maritime museum, found in what was once the Jet Foil station, is a perfect location to take the kids. It features an interactive simulated bay and a ship that can be controlled by visitors. Opening times are seasonal, so please check ahead before you make the journey.

For the art lovers amongst you, the Museum Nestor in the Garden City neighbourhood has works by the modernist painter Martin Nestor Fernandez de la Torre. With ten exhibition halls and a large documentation room, you can absorb culture for days on end if you are able.

For theatre (as well as adjoining bars), The Chamber Island Theatre has a unique stage space set in the nave of a former church. This is truly the place to go for a great night out. In 2007, the theatre became a regular nightly attraction. Small local theatre companies are allowed to try out first-time shows in this relaxed but grand setting.

If you attend during late January and early February, you can enjoy the carnival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It features folk music and galas, as well as beauty queen pageants and drag queen pageants in equal measure. There really is something for everyone here!
