What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

Are there any additional costs?

Pohang, in the North Gyeongsang Province of South Korea, can be found overlooking the mouth of the Hyeongsang River. The city has a rich history which dates back to 1500 BCE.

The city is the home of the Pohang Steel Company (POSCO), one of the world's largest steel producers. While steel keeps the city's ancient port lively, the city is also known for its tourist ferries. Routes to the Sea of Japan and Ulleung Island can be found in Pohang downtown.

A rail station in Pohang downtown provides regularly scheduled trains to Seoul, Busan and Daegu. Those preferring to travel to Seoul by plane may do so easily at Pohang Airport, a small domestic terminal.

The city is home to Jukdo Market. Its sellers are best known for their seafood offerings. Many raw-fish restaurants can be found there.

When venturing beyond the borders of Pohang, car hire is strongly recommended. While public transportation is available, it can be limited and restrict your ability to travel independently. Car hire can be collected from: 54-6 Haedo 2-dong, Nam-gu.

A short drive from Pohang downtown will lead you to some of South Korea's best beaches. Venturing north of the city will lead you to Chilpo and Wolpo which overlook the Sea of Japan. Heading eastward will take you to Homigot. This location on the easternmost tip of the Korean peninsula is visited by thousands each New Year's as it provides access to Korea's first sunrise.

Surrounding Pohang is a number of important Buddhist temples which are located in picturesque surroundings. Venturing north of the city in your car hire vehicle will take you to Bogyeongsa temple. Set in a valley beneath Mount Naeyeon, it is located near the Yeonsan Waterfall. From the temple, your party can follow hiking trails up the 710m mountain.
