The Portuguese city of Quarteira is one of the latest and most popular tourist destinations in the Mediterranean region. The little parish town is located in the municipality of Loule, near the coast line, and the town has a small population of just over 16,000 residents. In fact this place was only made a city in 1999, after it grew considerably and began attracting large numbers of tourists during the boom of the 70s and 80s. Quarteira is near many major cities and can be reached by car hire.

The 2km of beach, has been given the honour of being a Blue Flag beach, which means that it is of the highest quality. The high standard of its beach has made Quarteira a top tourist location, and many visit the spot during the summer months. Even during the low seasons, golfers frequent the area.

The main attraction at Quarteira is naturally its beach and the lengthy promenade built nearby. The promenade features beautiful palms, bright hibiscus and oleander plants. The walkway is filled during the evenings with couples taking a romantic stroll as the sun sets. There are also a number of restaurants, many of which serve fresh seafood caught that very day. There is also a local market from where one can buy a wide variety of freshly caught fish and shellfish.

There are a number of beautiful resorts that are situated near the beach and offer the 5-star treatment. The other major draw is the nearby championship Golf course and the city of Vilamoura, which is also a tourist hotspot. A little further inland is the major city of Loule, by far one of the most enthralling places in the Algarve region. Finally Quarteira also has its own 13th century church, which is a lovely sightseeing location, and a weekly gypsy market, where visitors can pick up exciting souvenirs.

What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

Are there any additional costs?

In general, our rates are all-inclusive. Should there be any additional costs, our booking department will get in touch with you before issuing the invoice. Should you object, you can always cancel your reservation with no obligations attached (at least 48 hours in advance).

What kind of insurance is applicable to my car rental?
