Alvor Guide

Portimao is in the District of Faro on Portugal's southern coast. It is home to several interesting and romantic natural stone formations visible from its prominent Praia da Rocha beach, the cornerstone of the beach resort traffic for this community. This area was once known as Vila Nova de Portimao until 1924, when it was incorporated. It now is home to forty five thousand residents in just the city proper. Alvor is its closest neighbor, sharing in all of the local attractions.

If you were to take your car hire out to examine Alvor and Portimao, you would find yourself, not only admiring the Praia da Rocha beach, but also the Praia da Vau. These are not the only natural attractions of this area, these cities also share room with a nature preserve known as Quinta da Rocha, which has committed itself to over 20 years of research based in local species on everything from flight patterns of the local butterflies, to the breeding of little owls. Alvor and Portimao are very popular locations for birdwatchers, being an ideal setting to survey surf birds.

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
