This big, fully-equipped international airport, also known as John Paul II International Airport, is located in the south of Poland near Krakow, in the village of Balice. It is located 11kms west of the city centre. John Paull II International Airport has become very important both commercially and economically, receiving more than one million passengers annually.
Several major airlines serve the airport, operating flights to many major European destinations as well as to New York. World-famous airlines that operate services here include Air France, Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, CSA and Lufthansa. Low-cost airlines such as Ryan Air and EasyJet also provide international flights from here.
The airport is very modern and equipped with a variety of facilities for passengers. There are two bureaux de change, a Polish bank and ATMs located in the Arrivals area. A post office provides services from 08:45 to 14:45.
There are a handful of bars and restaurants in the terminal, while duty-free shops and newsagents offer passengers an opportunity to shop until their final boarding call. Mother and children facilities are also available 24 hours.
The Executive Lounge features a computer with internet access, places where you can work on your notebook, satellite TV, a card phone and other modern facilities including a printer, copy and fax machines. There is also reading material, both in Polish and English, and a self-service buffet for food and beverages. The lounge is available to all international passengers for an extra charge.

Passengers with disabilities can find special facilities to accommodate their needs. There are lifts and escalators provided for easy access to every part of the airport. The toilets are wheelchair-accessible and special parking spaces are located in front of the terminal.
It is easy to drive to the airport, as the northern border of the airport is adjacent to Krakow-Katowice motorway. To the west is Morawica and the airports east borders are adjacent to the motorway in the direction of Tarnów. As the airport is only 11kms from the city centre, travelling to the airport is just a quick ride. The airport also has its own exit ramp from the A4 motorway.
The car park is located opposite the passenger terminal and can accommodating 756 vehicles including 15 buses. There are both short-stay and long-stay parking spaces for motorists.
Bus numbers 208 and 192 run regularly from the airport to the city centre. The bus station is located at the roundabout in front of the terminal building.
By train, Krakow Balice Station is located only 200 metres from the passenger terminal. It is about a 5-minute walk. Alternatively, take one of the free shuttle buses that operate to and from Krakow Balice Station.
