Amsterdam Schiphol International Airport is located 15 kilometres southwest of Amsterdam, and it is one of the world’s busiest airports. It serves as a hub for cheap transatlantic flights with major carriers such as KLM.
There are VAT reclaim facilities available at banks, and currency can be exchanged by machine 24/7. The bureaux de change is open from 0300 to 2330. You can find an ATM in the west lounge. A 24-hour medical centre and a pharmacy are also available. Post boxes are located around the terminal, and a post office is in the central lounge. Phone rental is possible at the Arrivals 1 information desk, and business travellers will find fax machines at various gates.
The terminal hotel offers shower facilities, and an array of restaurants and bars. Schiphol Plaza is located just before customs and is open to the shopping public from 0600 to 1000 daily. Extensive shopping opportunities exist on both sides of immigration, with duty-free shopping, casino, and sauna on airside only. A 24-hour grocery/market is also on hand.
Offices are available for business passengers, with fax, pc, and telephone rental together with secretarial service. High-tech conference also facilities exist. Opening times are 0830-1730 Monday to Friday (Tel: 20 653 2480). Catering is provided upon request. Major airlines have executive lounges offering some business facilities.
Helpdesks are situated before Passport Control in Schiphol Plaza, Arrivals 2 and 3, and behind passport control in Lounge 2 and 3.

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport train station is located in the terminal's central plaza and offers direct links to Amsterdam Centraal Station. This 20-minute service runs round the clock, departing every 15 minutes during the day.
A number of Amsterdam public buses run from the terminal to Amsterdam center, departing every 15 minutes. There are also airport shuttles that include hotel stop-offs en-route to the centre of town.
Taxis take 15 minutes into the city and are available from outside the Arrivals Hall of the main terminal building. Advance reservations can be made though there are normally more than enough cabs to accommodate arriving passengers.
To get to the airport by road from Amsterdam, take the A10 Amsterdam ring road until it joins the A4 road towards Schiphol. Turn left after several kilometres and the E19 will take you into Schiphol International Airport.
Schiphol Airport has a number of car parking options including short-term parking, long-term parking, exclusive parking and valet parking. Car Parks P1 and P2 facilitate short-term parking for a maximum of 48 hours. Car park P3 offers long-term parking and includes a complimentary shuttle bus to and from the airport terminal building, taking around 10 minutes. The exclusive parking area, P7, located under the terminal, is reserved for frequent flyers.
