Viareggio is a town located in the Tuscany region in the Province of Lucca. There are about 64,000 residents until the summer when the tourist comes to the area. Tuscany is a great region mostly known for their vineyards. If you are planning a trip to Viareggio then you should take a day trip to one of the area wineries. They really are very educational and great fun. Viareggio is also known for their culture, they have a Puccini opera festival that is held every year in Torre del Lago. This town has been very outspoken when it come to alternative lifestyles.

In Viareggio they also hold one of the town's most famous Carnivals, they have huge floats and comedy routines as well. Talk your travel agent and see when these events are being held and try top plan your trip around them. A trip to Viareggio is a trip of a lifetime and seeing an event like this is just a huge bonus.

If you want to take a day trip, Viareggio has a direct train line to Pisa, so you can see the world famous Leaning Tower. The town of Viareggio has some really nice hotels; some of the best in the area are the Hotel President, the Hotel Tirrenia and The Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte. Just to name a few, there are far too many to mention.
