Stresa is a very small town of about 5,000 people located on the shoreline of Lago Maggiore. This city has been around for centuries; in fact the first document that carried the cities name on it appeared as far back as 998. Many wealthy people of Europe have used Stresa has a vacation getaway. Even Ernest Hemmingway the famous writer used the city as a setting in his famous novel Farewell to Arms.

Last but not least is the Villa Pallavicino that sites in between Stresa and Belgirate. It was built in the 1850's and it is used today as the site of Stresa's Zoological Park.

The shoreline of the Lago Maggiore is breathtaking; you can take a boat to the island of Borromean for a nice day of sightseeing. There is also a 20 minute ride in a cable car that will take you to the top of Mount Mottarone. Stresa has some of the most breathtaking countryside in all of Italy, when you come on vacation you should take advantage of everything the town has to offer.
