Marking the spot of the entrance to the ancient Roman city that once stood here, is the famous Augustus Arch. Built in 27 BC and the oldest monument in the city, this amazing colossal arch served as a welcome to the city and as a warning to those who opposed Roman power.

Not far from the arch can be found the Malatesta Temple. Its sumptuous Gothic interior, intricate heraldic symbols and inscriptions offer a startling contrast to the building’s simple white marble exterior. If you continue on further into the city you will find numerous open plazas and hidden medieval courtyards such as Malatesta Square, home of Castel Sismondo and the elegant Piazzetta Gregorio da Rimini.

But what brings travellers to Rimini are its vast entertainment and leisure options. In addition to the city’s beautiful beach and exciting nightlife it also boasts one of the best amusement parks in Italy, Rimini, Rimini, Rimini! Entrance to this enormous park is free of charge. It offers traditional amusement park options such as rides and games, and a vast green area with many private spots for picnics or just relaxing under a tree.

Near Rimini and good for a day trip is the Marecchia Valley. This beautiful area flanked by rocky hills retains traces of one of the earliest Italic civilizations, the Villanovians. A further drive around the Romangda region will reveal more beautiful coastal areas and the spectacular Apennines Mountains. Perfect for hiring a car!
