Piacenza is another city in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy. This area had been occupied by Celtics and Liguian tribes in the olden days. Piacenza got its name from the 'Liver of Piacenza', a bronze sculpture of a liver which was found near the city and had the names of regions marked on it. The Palazzo Comunale, also referred to as Il Gotico, is the main sight in Piacenza and it became the seat of the government of the town during its construction in 1281.
