In the city
There are a number of interesting museums located within Guatemala City. The Museo Popol Vuh can be found in Zona 10, and is named after the famous Mayan book, exhibiting an amazing private collection of Spanish and Mayan colonial art. Another extraordinary Museum worth visiting is Museo Nacional de Arqueología y Etnología located in Zona 13. Here visitors will come across superb Mayan artifacts. Outside the city

Take a trip to one of the deepest lakes in the world, called Lago de Atitlan. The lake is situated on the shores of former hippie town of the 60's; Panajache, which today, still attracts the laidback travellers. Head 3 hours drive from the capital, Lago de Atitlan to see the collapsed volcanic cone, which is today completely filled with water. From here travellers can take a ferry to Santiago Atitlán for a day trip and witness colourfully dressed locals.

Guatemala City's La Aurora International Airport, located a short 16 minute drive south of Guatemala's City centre, operates flights to many regional and US cities.
