The little extra luxury didn't happen...

Rented a car through this site October 2019. The car was to be an Opel Corsa or similar and the supplier Alamo shown on the website as "Best supplier on the list" and "a little extra luxury". When I arrived I found out that Alamo does not have its own desk or cars at Heraklion Airport so I was directed to the Enterprise desk who supplied me with an old model Nissan Micro with 60,000K plus Kms and I was just too tired to argue. I just think if you advertise a supplier as "best on the list" and "a little extra luxury" then they should at the very least have their own desk and nearly new vehicles.

My "go to" site for Car Hire abroad

I've used Carrentals.co.uk a couple of times - for renting cars in Kefalonia and Fuerteventura - and I wish i'd discovered them sooner. You hear loads of horror stories about being upsold products / insurance when you collect your car from the rental company, but carrentals.co.uk take all of that pain away. They get you the best deal for the type of car and package that you're looking for and its completely hassle free. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Good prices but bad customer service

Good prices, but bad customer service. Don't take responsibility for description of vehicles - i.e. offer X car or similar at a certain price on the Carrentals website, but the rental supplier says upon collection that they don't offer X car, and that to have a car with the same specification as X car will cost more. It isn't the supplier's fault because they wouldn't offer car X or similar if they don't have car X at all, but all that I got from Carrentals when asking for the extra charge to be refunded were repeated standard form emails saying that this is not their responsibility. Especially poor when the description was misleading, and I have rented through them around 100 times.

Great way to get a good hire car

Great way to get a good hire car at a decent price. Have used carrentals several times, and got some great deals. Much easier than trawling through lots of hire car websites. Used them for luxury cars in Canada and cheap cars in Spain, and intermediate in Greece, and all have been good. When a rental company refused to honour the second driver free offer, car rentals refunded the money promptly.

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

 Are there any additional costs?
