Kalamiki is a busy resort town on the south coast of the island of Zakynthos near the bay of Laganas. The resort is popular during the summer months with visitors flocking to lie on the golden sandy beaches of nearby Laganas during the day and visit the vibrant nightlife in the evenings. The beach at Kalamiki is fairly restricted due to the government declaring it a National Marine Park.

Car rental in Kalamiki is recommended to tour round the island with nearby villages of Marathias, Kokiaraiika and Argassi all easily accessed and Zante town is only 15 minutes away. From Zante Town the port ferries passengers to Brindisi in Italy.

Zakynthos Airport, Dionysios Solomos International Airport, is the gateway to the island especially during the peak holiday season. The airport is located around 15 minutes drive from Zante Town and car hire in Kalamiki can be arranged for airport transfers.

The main motorway on Zakynthos is the National Road 35 connecting Zante with Porto Roma and Volimes. Although away from the main routes, the roads can be quite narrow and a compact car rental in Kalamiki is recommended.

What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

Are there any additional costs?
