Anaxos is a small town on the Greek island of Lesbos. It sits on the island's western coast away from the bigger cities to the east. Car hire in Anaxos is a must, as tourists are likely to face limited transportation options.

The main attraction in this small town is a sandy beach backed by the waterfront road, which is one of the only streets in Anaxos. The town is hemmed in by Kallonis-Antissas road, which passes east of the town centre and connects to Kallonis-Petras, the most important island-crossing road on Lesbos.

Petras is about three miles to the east and can be reached with cheap car hire in Anaxos in about five minutes. This is the local transport hub with road links to Mytilene (to the east) via the Kerameias-Kallonis motorway. Mytilene operates the island's largest harbour with service to Athens. This is also where you'll find the island's airport.

There are a few hotels on the coast in Anaxos, but most of the accommodation is away from the beach and closer to the highway. In either event, the coast is within walking distance in this small community. Visitors with car rental in Anaxos will find plenty of beachside parking.
