It would be good if there was a way to request a particular format of vehicle, e.g. estate. We knew we would have 5 suitcases so we booked an estate car but the SUV we were originally given was not as big so we had to pay for an upgrade.

Close to the border of France is Saarbruecken, the capital of Saarland. 8km towards the east of Saarbruecken is the Saarbruecken airport. The first large scale solar power plant is located near to the Saarbruecken Airport. The ministry had granted aid of 6.5 million Euros for the entire project.

If one is flying to Saarbruecken, Germany and plans to rent a car, for any purpose such as leisure or business, you will find expert car hire companies at the airport near all of the terminal buildings as well as shuttles which will take you to nearby accommodation in the city nearby.

Transportation by air began in 1928 from Saarland with the opening of the Airport in Saarbruecken, called the St. Arnual Airport. This is where the well known international airline, Lufthansa rendered its first services on the 17th September. However this airport was closed down in 1939, because of the dangerous aerodynamic conditions and runaway problems as of poor weather conditions. After 1964, the Government planned to rebuild the airport. The airport was redesigned keeping future aviation technologies in mind.

This airport was declared as the 11th international airport in 1972 and to this day over 430, 000 passengers travel through the Saarbruecken Airport.

If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
