On the Dreisam River in southern Germany is the city of Freiburg. It is a city famous for its university and its close proximity to the Black Forest. The city is famous for its ancient cathedral and university. The first thing that visitors see is the cathedral, called Freiburg Munster. It was built in the earlier part of the last millennium, and is open for the public. Climb up to the top of the tower for views of the city.

Drive to the Black Forest, which is only a short distance away, and try the famous Black Forest gateaux, walk through the hills and forests, buy some wood carvings or clocks, made in the traditional way by the local people, or if you are there just before lent, you will be able to experience the festival of Fastnacht (or Fasnet in the Black Forest).
