Menton is a small city located on the famous French Riviera, also the Mediterranean coast. The city which is more commonly referred to as 'The Pearl of France' is a key location for some of France's most infamous history.  The city has been restored to all its glory since it was captured by the Italians during the 1940's, and it now functions as a popular tourist stop along the stunning coast of the French Riviera.

The town is situated on the border between France and Italy. Most of the town's unique heritage sites and natural wonders can be explored by car. The regions temperate climate gives it the perfect conditions for lemon, orange, and tangerine orchards, which have been planted in abundance around the countryside.

The town is also well known for its botanical gardens as the climate is warm and mostly temperate. Most worth visiting are the 'Maria Serena gardens', 'Jardin Serre de la Madone', 'Fontana Rosa', and 'Jardin botanique exotique de Menton'.

Beaches along the Mediterranean coastline are also enjoyable for sunbathing and a great way to escape a hot sunny day.

Menton also hosts two major festivals each year. 'The Lemon Festival' which takes place in February and the 'Classical Musical Festival', which becomes the focal point of town for three days. Both festivals are famous on a regional level, and attended by both locals and tourists each year.

Transport

By booking car hire at Menton Rail Station (Gare de Menton) ready for your arrival, tourists will be given the freedom to see all that Menton and the French Riviera have to offer. Car hire is considered one of the easiest ways to see the gardens, fruit orchards, and Menton's local beaches, and is a great way of avoiding the busy crowds of tourists on excursions all hoping to see the same sites as you.

Taxis and buses also operate from outside of the train station although they are not as reliable as having your own personal vehicle, and the taxis can be quite expensive. 

The roads around the French Riviera are wonderful to drive with beautiful blue waters of the Mediterranean facing you as you pass by the quaint picturesque towns and bays.
