The little town itself was restored after the severe destruction of WW II, resulting in an atmospheric ensemble of riverside quays. Its bridge over the Loire dates from the 16th century and its charming houses surround the gorgeous 15th century chateau. Conveniently located within a short distance from the Rail station is the two-star rated Inter Hotel Axotel Gien.

Passengers arriving by train in Gien may rent a car at the Gien Rail Station or downtown, where several local and international car hire companies have their depots. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
