What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

When we arrived in Nantes, the flight had been delayed by an hour and we joined the long queue for passport control, so as requested by yourselves, we tried to phone to say that we were going to be late picking up the car. There were two numbers - one didn’t work, the other one led to a Blackpool number but what sounded like a French guy who wasn’t really able to help. Didn’t spoil the holiday or overall experience but thought you should be aware of this.

I found booking through Carrentals

I found booking through Carrentals very easy and straightforward. My only suggestion for an improvement would be to somehow enable the online check in to work better. I was sent an email asking me to check in with Hertz online however when I tried to use this service the form had an incorrect email address and phone number (presumably for Carrentals) which I was unable to edit on the form.
