The French town of Morteau is located close to the Swiss border and close to the French towns of Besan?�on and Pontarlier. The surrounding mountains and valleys are popular with skiers, both downhill and cross country. The surrounding scenery is spectacular and a delight to explore with car rental at Morteau.

The River Doubs runs through the town. Morteau is well known for its Morteau sausage and clocks. There is even a clock museum. The town also boasts a large ice rink. Close to Morteau and easily accessible with cheap car hire at Morteau is the lovely tourist town of Villers-le-Lac which has a beautiful waterfall. Here you can try cross-country skiing on more than 30kms of trails.

Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
