Situated just three hours from Paris by high-speed train (TGV), Bordeaux is within easy reach of the Atlantic beaches less than an hour's drive from its city centre. With 12 to 15 TGV trains arriving from Paris's Gare Montparnasse every day, Bordeaux is one of the country's most significant railway transit points.

Trains also arrive here from Bayonne, Nantes, Poitiers, La Rochelle, Toulouse, Marseille and Montpellier, and continue on up to Nice and Clermont-Ferrand. Many rail companies offer services from major European cities to Bordeaux, and Eurostar provides reasonably priced express fares.

Gare de Jean, the main Bordeaux Rail Station, is about two and a half miles from central Bordeaux, on the western bank of the river Marne. It is a five-minute taxi ride or a 30-minute walk into the heart of the city. Buses and taxis depart from opposite the station, or you can catch the tram to get to the inner city.
