What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

Are there any additional costs?

Although not in its original location, the airport that serves Turku was the first airport in Finland when it was finished in 1935 and stayed until it was moved in 1955 to its spot just north of the city. The airport has two terminals, one to look after the budget type carriers and the main one to take all other flights into the region.

Using a car hire at Turku Airport is the easiest way to travel into the city and explore and will only take around 20 minutes to complete the journey. Turku is on the south west coast of Finland where the Aura River meets the Baltic Sea.

With its location on the Baltic Sea many people who visit the area take a cruise on a ship for a short time around the Baltics. The train system used to be popular, but has dwindled in recent times with travellers preferring to fly or drive.

Public transport in the city is very minimal compared to other Finland cities of the same size so travelling by car rental at Turku Airport is the better solution for transport in and around the Turku area. There are number of museums dedicated to art of local people and are worth seeing
