This resort town on Egypt’s Red Sea coast is one of the best bases for an exploration of the Sea’s coral reefs. However, this town offers more than just diving and snorkeling; windsurfing, sailing, deep-sea fishing, sunbathing, dancing and hiking are just a few of the activities available in this full service resort area.

It is the reef, though, that makes this town and the Red Sea so famous with travellers. Considered second only to the Great Barrier Reef, this underwater garden contains an amazingly colorful variety of coral, fish, and plant life to satiate your eyes. Whether you are a serious scuba diver or an amateur with only a mask and a snorkel, these waters will not fail to awe.

The town offers several places of interest that will help you to understand the finer points of what you are viewing in the sea. The Marine Museum and the Aquarium, both just north of town, have a wonderful selection of sea life and their helpful staff will give you a primer on the science of the amazing ecosystem you are exploring.

The many hotels in town offer full service bars, discos and restaurants, so you will never be wanting for entertainment. During the day, the Sea’s excellent beaches are an avenue for just about any marine activity you can imagine, from para-sailing to glass bottom boat rides.
