Pentiction Guide

Penticton is located in the southern part of British Columbia Okanagan Valley between Okanagan Lake and Skaha Lake and means "a place to stay forever"" in their local language.

The summer is the best time to visit Penticton when tourism is at its peak. Penticton is primarily known for its beaches and wineries. The city has 80 wineries within an hour's drive with nearly 23 of them being located on Namrata beach. Most wineries here offer free tours and tasting. The most popular beaches in the city are the Okanagan Beach and the Skaha Beach each being located next to the respective lakes. Other beaches include the Airport beach, Sudbury beach and Three Mile beach.

The Skaha climbing bluffs with its excellent routes and gears provides a huge treat for rock climbers all over. Penticton also has Kettle valley railroad trail which is part of the Trans Canada trail. Another local pastime is to float down the River channel a small stretch between the two major lakes. The city also boasts of four major golf courses with many more close by.

The nearest major airport is Vancouver or Calgary and from there one can take a local flight to the Penticton Regional Airport. However the most favored choice is to travel by road mainly by car as it helps with sightseeing in the city. There are many companies that offer cheap car hire for the Okanagan Valley region. The travel takes around 4 hours from Vancouver and 8 hours from Calgary. One can take the bus or car or car hire from Vancouver/Calgary.
