Guide

With its distinctly French character, cosmopolitan atmosphere and historic attractions, Montréal is one of Canada’s showpiece cities. With so much to see ad do here in Montreal why not opt for car hire to make getting around that little easier. Book cheap car hire in Montreal with us in advance of travelling, and grab a bargain hire car for you holiday. Don't leave it to the last minute as prices are far more expensive at airports, downtown depots and train stations.

Explore Montreal

The downtown center is mostly modern, and the Rue Ste Catherine holds centre stage as the shopping and people magnet of the city. Nearby is the Chinatown district, and several commendable museums are found here. Be sure to visit the Cathédrale Basilique Marie Reine du Monde which also stands out among the skyscrapers.

A popular student area of Montreal is the 'Quartier Latin' near Rue St. Denis where the university is located. It's a beautiful part of the city with the look of Paris with its old buildings and trees, best seen in Autumn. Sylish bars and restaurants, with open style cafes, and a selection of clubs can be found in this lively part of Montreal.

Vieux Montréal, the old part of the city, is centred around the delightful 200 year old market square, and the Place d'Armes, another square exhibiting the Basilica Notre Dame and the Chapelle du Sacré Couer. Take a trip along the Promenade de Vieux Port, the Old Port or browse the quaint shops through the narrow beautifully layed cobble-stone streets.

For day-time fun, especially if you have a family, the Parc des Îles (situated on two islands on the St Lawrence river) has plenty to offer. For great entertainment visit the amusement park complex offering its customers Casinos, a Grand Prix racetrack, a Biosphère, an artificial beach to relax and play ball games with the family and plenty of parklands with walking and biking tracks.

Transport

By air
The main airport, and the busiest in Montreal is Dorval Airport, located approximately 22kms west of the city. It is modern and well equipped for tourists. There are reliable and frequent bus and shuttle connections into Montreal. Asian and Australian visitors have to connect via Vancouver or other west coast airports to reach Montréal.

By train
Distances are large in Canada, even among the cluster of mid eastern cities. Trains are the most comfortable means of land travel but are more expensive than the buses. VIA Rail Canada services many cities and towns near to Montreal, as well as the popular Niagara Falls. There are also US Amtrak trains departing for the US eastern seaboard and Great Lake area cities.

By bus
Many tourists on a low budget use the bus network to get around Montreal and to its other great cities as it's the least expensive option. Buses leave from the Station Centrale de l'Autobus in the Quartier Latin, just east of the university.

By car
A good network of highways make journeys to Quebec city and Ottawa easy. If you enjoy cruising along the roads taking in the stunning scenery that Canada has to offer then why not opt for car rental. Avoid the long and busy queues at the bus and train stations and drive away freely in your own time and at your own pace.

Car hire

What do I need to do when picking up a car? To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient. Are there any additional costs? In general, our rates are all-inclusive. Should there be any additional costs, our booking department will get in touch with you before issuing the invoice. Should you object, you can always cancel your reservation with no obligations attached (at least 48 hours in advance). What kind of insurance is applicable to my car rental? In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car. What is a worry-free label? This label indicates that a rental car satisfies the following requirements: Unlimited kilometers, no excess liability (and no excess cover available), sustainable energy policy, and that the car rental company has a good reputation. Availability of cars satisfying these four requirements will speed up the selection of a suitable vehicle for you. How can I change or cancel my reservation? You can cancel your reservation through "My Account". We recommend contacting us by phone if your changes to your booking or cancellation takes place at short notice (48 hours or less). When will I get a confirmation of my booking? Most reservations will receive confirmation within minutes after payment takes place.
