With nearly 70,000 people living in Tournai, it's a major population center within Belgium. The land area of the town comprises over 200 square kilometers, making it one of the most sprawling cities in the country.

Once you get into Tournai, it's easy to get around. Car hire services are available at either train stations or in the town proper. The services offered by these establishments allow tourists freedom of movement around the area, making it a very popular mode of transportation. Public transportation within the city is excellent, though once you leave the city limits your options become much more limited in availability.
