St. Anton is situated along the Rosanna river, and is a member of the Arlberg ski alliance. The alliance ski region includes nearly 100 cable cars and ski lifts, and more than 260 kilometers of manicured trails. The downtown area is reserved for pedestrian traffic, and vehicles are excluded. There are expert ski trails that lead into and out of town, and the expert terrain trails are less well-kept. It is for this reason that St. Anton is so popular. The vast mixture of amateur and professional-level trails make for a very diverse ski experience.

The area is easily reached by rail or car, and many tourists find that using car hire services from a larger neighboring city or driving in from Vienna or Salzburg is the most efficient means of getting there. Thanks to the excellent roads in the area which are kept mostly clear during the winter, year-round access is possible.
