Mamoudzou Guide

Resting amid the island of Mayotte along the coasts of the Indian Ocean, Mamoudzou is a thriving tourist destination. It is the capital and largest town of the Mayotte Island and also serves as the country's commercial center. Famous for its harbor and unique shopping opportunities, Mamoudzou gains the tourists' hearts despite its limited attractions. A great way to explore the town is through cheap car hire at Mamoudzou.

One of the things visitors could do in Mamoudzou is to go on some exciting boat rides through the Lagoon, and watch the playful whales and dolphins circling around the waters. These mild sea monsters offer great entertainment as they flip and waddle through the air while visitors watch in awe.

Visitors could also take a car hire at Mamoudzou and explore the many different shopping stalls that stand in the area. The town is famous for its shopping scene although no formal shopping centres have been developed, rather, bazaars and market stands serve as the main shopping areas. This though, pretty much adds to the excitement of the experience.

The beaches in the area are not only popular for bathing but for seaside picnics as well. Visitors can take a car rental at Mamoudzou to buy some charcoal chunks at the market and enjoy a sizzling barbecue at the beach.

There is no airport available in the main island (Grand Terre) of Mayotte, rather, travelers land on the neighboring Petit Terre. Passenger ferries bring tourists to and from the two islands.
