Kisumu Guide

Kenya's third largest city, Kisumu is a Millennium City and a basin city for Lake Victoria. This Nyanzan capital lies 15 miles from the equator giving the city a warm climate. A good way to beat the heat while travelling through the city is through cheap car hire at Kisumu, which offers a comfortable means of transport within the area.

To kick off your journey, drive your car hire at Kisumu to the City Museum where interesting exhibits of realistic wildlife can be seen. Among the exhibits is the image of a wildebeest under attack by a lion. This image is made alive by the realistic make of the two animals (stuffed to resemble real forest beasts).

A few hours' drive on your car rental at Kisumu would take you to the famous Maasai Mara preserve where a wild safari could be experienced. In the safari you'll get to see wild animals in their natural habitat.

Wildlife is probably the most proud attraction in Kisumu. More animal sanctuaries await at the Hippo Point and the Kisumu Impala Sanctuary. The Hippo Point not only hosts a wealth of massive hippopotamuses but also offers the greatest view of the Lake Victoria sunset. The Kisumu Impala Sanctuary offers more opportunities for viewing wild creatures.

You may well pass by the famous Kit Miyaki or the weeping rock where, as legends say, a weeping soul of a betrayed woman lurks. The site holds a magnificent mound of rock, topped by 3 smaller rocks, a breathtaking view of a nature's wonder.
