The city of Plovdiv, is the 2nd largest city in Bulgaria after Sofia, but from the northern region perspective, it is the largest and considered to be the most important city. Buses, taxis, trains, and trolleybuses all operate throughout Plovdiv and its neighbouring towns and cities. It is a major international transport hub with Plovdiv International Airport located only 20kms south of Plovdiv city.
