Roma is situated in the Australian state of Queensland in the southwest. It is located approximately 350 miles from the major city of Brisbane and is easily accessible by car. Roma is well known for its large farming community and has several agricultural farms in the area. Travelling to, and around Roma is easiest by car, being such a remote location, so book cheap car hire in Roma in advance of travel with us, and experience the most out of your trip, as there are many beautiful scenic drives to experience around the town.

One of the crops that are grown in the area are delicious oranges that are used for several types of high quality Australian wines. There are just over 7,000 people living in this beautiful town. Agriculture make up over 60% of the commercial business in the area, and wine and beef make up the other part of the core industries here.

Whilst you are visiting Roma you may want to visit the Big Rig Oil and Gas Musuem which features the history on the oil and gas industry in Australia. Travellers can also see nature's beauty by visiting the Carnarvon Gorge, located in the Carnarvon/Mount Moffatt National Park (pictured above). Located to the east of this park is the Expedition National Park, and to the West of Roma is the Chesterton Range National Park. All of these parks offer superb trails, great for hikers, however, temperatures can get well in the 40's here so be prepared, and take plenty of food and water suppliers.

Other attractions to visit in Roma include; Roma Villa Winery, Roma Picnic Races Festival held in March, 'Roma Cup' festival and the 'Easter in the Country' festival, both held in November, the Biggest Bottle Tree, Hero's Avenue marking a tribute to those who lost their lives in World War one, and last, but not least, a visit to the Mini Steam Train.

Roma Airport is the nearest airport to Roma, at only 4kms drive north of the town. Durham Downs Airport is also close, at only 67kms, or an hour's drive northeast of the town. There are no international flights operating to these airports. International passengers will have to fly to Brisbane Airport and then take Quantas Airlines to Roma Airport, or with car hire at Brisbane Airport an option, travellers can also drive to Roma, and take in Australia's beautiful scenery.

 What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

 Are there any additional costs?

In general, our rates are all-inclusive. Should there be any additional costs, our booking department will get in touch with you before issuing the invoice. Should you object, you can always cancel your reservation with no obligations attached (at least 48 hours in advance).

What kind of insurance is applicable to my car rental?

In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car.
