The Byzantine Museum of Zakynthos is located in Solomon Square and houses a fine collection of Byzantine sculptures, statues, and hagiographies. In the same square, you will also find the statue of Dionysios Solomos, who has been dubbed Greece’s national poet. The Church of Saint Nikolaos on the Mole stands on the waterfront near the statue. This church is very important to Zakynthos because Saint Dionysios, the island’s patron saint, served there.
