Los Realjos is situated in the northern part of Tenerife in the western area of the Valley of La Orotava.

The population is about 40,000, which is distributed unevenly around the area. In recent years, there has been more movement towards the coastal area of Los Realjos because of the tourism industry.

For walking holidays, this can be a good centre. There is easy access to the Tiede National Park. This was awarded World Heritage status in 2007. It offers one of the most outstanding examples of volcanoes in the world. Also experience walking through the Valley of La Orotava.

For beach holidays, the beach, Playa del Socorro, is very attractive with black sand. However, you need to take caution if taking young family as the waves and currents are very strong and can cause problems when it is windy. Amenities at the beach are ample parking and a beach bar. Other beaches and coves to explore are Castro beach, El Socorro beach, La Fajana beach, and Los Roques Beach.

Local places to visit include Drago of the Seven Fountains, Twin Dragos of Realejo Bajo, Los Roques – Rambla de Castro, Corona Belvedere and El Lance Belvedere.

If history is your interest, there are many buildings to visit reflecting the past of Los Realjos. Investigate some of these – the Calzadilla Family House, Wall House, Icod el Alto, Las Canales House, Four Windows (Las Cuatro Ventanas) House to name but a few.

It is easy to access the towns of Santa Cruz, Puerto de la Cruz and La Laguna. You just follow the TF-5 highway and follow the signs.

Los Realjos is a town which is near to other attractions such as the Loro Parque [the parrot park] and the Costa Martianez, which is a swimming complex.
