Car Hire Salt Lake City - Mini guide to Salt Lake City
Salt Lake City is a pleasant, hassle-free city that is uniquely sandwiched between a briny inland sea and a snowcapped range of mountains. Famous for its Mormon heritage, it is also a great place for skiers, hikers, mountain bikers and just about anyone who enjoys the robustness of outdoor pursuits. With this sporting pedigree, the city was an obvious choice to host the 2002 Winter Olympics.
In the heart of the old Mormon city is Temple Square where youll find the Temple, the Tabernacle and the Assembly Hall. You are not allowed enter the Temple (unless you are Mormon) but you can hear some amazing organ concerts in the Tabernacle and the Assembly Hall. The Museum of Church History and Art nearby is also worth a visit. Even if you're not that interested in the Church of Latter-day Saints, it's worth visiting Temple Square for the architecture alone.
On the east side of the downtown area, Trolley Square is worth checking out. This National Historic Site is housed in charming, olden-day trolley car barns. Its a good place for shopping, dining and entertainment venues.
Capitol Hill in Salt Lake City is truly a hill! A walk from downtown up State Street to the Utah State Capitol offers a sampling of the eclectic blend of Victorian, Italian, and wealthy pioneer architectural styles. Just to the west of the Utah State Capitol is the Pioneer Memorial Museum that also provides a sense of life in the Beehive State in its early days.
Further downtown the Capitol Theater, home of Ballet West, is both an architectural and cultural gem. Equally accessible from anywhere in downtown are Abravenel Hall (home of the Utah Opera Company) and the Delta Center.
The major suburbs in Salt Lake City are: Bountiful, Draper, Holladay, Magna, Midvale, Murray, Riverton, Sandy, Taylorsville and West Jordan.
